Sometimes the direct approach is best. As we walk through the bird house at the Lincoln Park Zoo in Chicago, I am enjoying the “How You Can Help” interpretive technique. It may be common knowledge to some, but I never knew that I could help preserve birds’ habitats by choosing shade-grown coffee. Different “How You Can Help” tips show up throughout the exhibit.
I think that showing visitors that they can help conserve resources by making changes in their daily lives further connects visitors to those resources.
